LOS ANGELES— This Monday, August 17th, George Miller and Louis Metzger officially launched the first line of briefs for their start up company, Hold Ups. After months of fundraising and self promoting, the two were able to reach their $27,000 goal and begin the process of placing the first mass shipment of 3,000 briefs.
This revolutionary underwear company originated when Miller decided it was time to solve a few problems: wedgies, chaffing and swamp @$%. His solution was to design a brief that was comfortable, fashionable, and efficient. The unique result was Hold Ups, a brief with a pocket made from Lyocell©, an all natural and sustainable soft fabric.
Since coming up with the design, the ambitious college freshmen traveled all over Los Angeles, from warehouse to warehouse to contract the perfect merchants for each aspect of their custom brief.
The hard work that the start-up founders put into their company is evident. Miller says, “In no other city would I have been able to walk 5 miles off campus, find a 10-story building filled with sewing contractors, and go floor to floor asking questions. The people were welcoming, they liked my idea, and they set me in the right direction.”
The final step in the process was raising enough money to place their first mass order for public sale. So, after the company reached their crowd funded goal on Kickstarter on May 27th, they were able to order enough briefs to complete an order of 3,000.
As of this week, the public can order Hold Ups briefs from their website: http://www.holdupsbriefs.com/our-team.html The company is entirely run by college students with the goal of changing men’s fashion one pair of briefs at a time.
